Newberg Graphic: New Business Tends to Pets' Aches and Pains

Pet owners in Newberg have a new option to treat their elderly or injured animals: Newberg Canine Rehabilitation.

   The clinic, which opened March 2 at 2401 Hancock Road Suite B-2, offers a variety of physical therapy and rehabilitation services, including an underwater treadmill.

   This form of therapy was originally used for horses and clinic co-owner Michelle Michelsen used it extensively in her other business, Bald Peak Equine Rehab, which she founded 15 years ago.

   "It's only in the past four or five years that this kind of physical therapy has been expanded to small animal care," she said. "The pet industry is really growing - people are taking better care of their animals. There's a similar clinic in Portland which has a three-month waiting list, so the demand is out there."
